What is a WellnessPro® 2010 Plus device?
Frequently Asked Questions about the Wellness Pro being the most advanced technology in relief of pain in injury trauma rehabilitation. It is an FDA registered, laboratory tested and registered through IEC,UL ETL,CE and ISO Class II medical device with the most flexibility of use and largest frequency range in its class on the market today. It is digitally controlled and designed for the precise treatment to control even the most difficult pain, trauma and injury cases, including a wide variety of muscle and connective tissue and other health problems associated with PAIN.
The Deep Pulse microchip designed by world renowned scientists contained within the Wellness Pro is programmed to treat various body systems that have electrical irregularities in muscle, tendon, ligament, bone and fascia with frequencies that are capable of treating both acute and chronic disorders, as well as many other generalized health imbalances.

How does this device work to reduce pain?
The Wellness Pro Plus assists the body to achieve homeostasis, which is its natural state of well being, by correcting electrical abnormalities in area of disease or injury.
However, in order to adequately explain how the Wellness Pro Plus work, it is appropriate to begin by considering certain fundamental aspects of living tissue.
The body is made up of a vast number of cells. In many ways these cells act like tiny batteries, storing and releasing energy, doing their work of taking in nutrients, releasing waste products, repairing and reproducing themselves, etc. Each cell, like any battery, has a measurable electrical charge, which must be maintained in order to function properly.
Energy flows constantly between all cells throughout the electrical circuitry of the body. When various forms of damage or trauma occurs to living tissue, there is a disruption in the electrical capacity of the involved cells and after an initial surge, there occurs, a measurable decrease in the production and flow of energy through the electrical network of the involved tissues. This condition is generally accompanied by pain in the area and often results in the body’s inability to completely repair itself. Therefore, lengthy rest periods and inactivity are often prescribed in order to attain eventual restoration of normal function. The Wellness Pro Plus treatments have been likened to putting a “jump start” on the dead battery of a car. (Also known as The Gate Control Theory).

Are there research findings available that support the use of the Wellness Pro Plus?
Yes, studies have found that the Wellness Pro Plus technology positively effects the production of ATP, sodium pump effect the Krebs cycle of the cell, thus enhancing the cell’s ability to stimulate its regenerative, instead of a degenerative, phase.
In 1991, two research scientists, Dr. Erwin Neher and Dr. Bert Sackmann won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine by detecting electrical currents of a trillionth of an ampere in the membrane, on the surface of a cell. These and other findings help support and substantiate the viability of the Wellness Pro technology over other devices that use outdated technology producing tremendously inaccurate frequencies with little to No results for the patient.

Summary
Each living cell is surrounded by a membrane which separates the world within the cell from its exterior. In this membrane there are channels, through which the cell communicates with its surroundings. These channels consist of single molecules or complexes of molecules and have the ability to allow passage of charged atoms, that is ions. The regulation of ion channels influences the life of the cell and its functions under normal and pathological conditions. The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 1991 is awarded for the discoveries of the function of ion channels. The two German cell physiologists Erwin Neher and Bert Sakmann have together developed a technique that allows the registration of the incredibly small electrical currents (amounting to a picoampere – 10-12A) that passes through a single ion channel. The technique is unique in that it records how a single channel molecule alters its shape and in that way controls the flow of current within a time frame of a few millionths of a second.
Neher and Sakmann conclusively established with their technique that ion channels do exist and how they function. They have demonstrated what happens during the opening or closure of an ion channel with a diameter corresponding to that of a single sodium or chloride ion. Several ion channels are regulated by a receptor localized to one part of the channel molecule which upon activation alters its shape. Neher and Sakmann have shown which parts of the molecule that constitute the “sensor” and the interior wall of the channel. They also showed how the channel regulates the passage of positively or negatively charged ions. This new knowledge and this new analytical tool has during the past ten years revolutionized modern biology, facilitated research, and contributed to the understanding of the cellular mechanisms underlying several diseases, including diabetes and cystic fibrosis.
What Happens Inside the Cell?
Inside the cell membrane there is a well-defined environment, in which many complex biochemical processes take place. The interior of the cell differs in important respects from its outside. For example the contents of positive sodium and potassium ions and negatively charged chloride ions are quite different. This leads to a difference in electrical potential over the cell membrane, amounting to 0.03 to 0.1 volts. This is usually referred to as the membrane potential.
The cell uses the membrane potential in several ways. By rapidly opening channels for sodium ions the membrane potential is altered radically within a thousandth of a second. Cells in the nervous system communicate with each other by means of such electrical signals of around a tenth of a volt that rapidly travel along the nerve processes. When they reach the point of contact between two cells – the synapse – they induce the release of a transmitter substance. This substance affects receptors on the target cell, often by opening ion channels. The membrane potential is hereby altered so that the cell is stimulated or inhibited. The nervous system consists of a series of networks each comprised of nerve cells connected by synapses with different functions. New memory traces in the brain are for example created by altering the number of available ion channels in the synapses of a given network.
All cells function in a similar way. In fact, life itself begins with a change in membrane potential. As the sperm merges with the egg cell at the instant of fertilization ion channels are activated. The resultant change in membrane potential prevents the access of other sperm cells. All cells – for instance nerve cells, gland cells, and blood cells – have a characteristic set of ion channels that enable them to carry out their specific functions. The ion channels consist of single molecules or complexes of molecules, that forms the wall of the channel – or pore – that traverses the cell membrane and connects the exterior to the interior of the cell (Figure 1B and 1D). The diameter of the pore is so small that it corresponds to that of a single ion (0.5-0.6 millionths of a millimetre). An immediate change in the shape of the molecule leads to either an opening or a closure of the ion channel. This can occur upon activation of the receptor part of the molecule (Figure 1D) by a specific signal molecule. Alternatively a specific part of the molecule that senses changes in membrane potential can open or close the ion channel.

What about cosmetic treatments?
The Wellness Pro has been FDA Cleared as a Pain relief device and is not intended for Cosmetic treatments.
However, Electrotherapy stimulation is widely used for cosmetic purposes and has shown to be very effective in the removal of brown spots, varicose veins and fine lines.

How much are the treatments and how many will I need?
Ranging from $35 to $250, treatments last from 45 to 90 minutes. For optimal results three consecutive treatments are recommended per week for one to six weeks depending on duration, severity and cause of the condition.
Wellness Pro has been Cleared as a Pain relief device and is not intended for Cosmetic treatments.
However, Electrotherapy stimulation is widely used for cosmetic purposes and has shown to be very effective in the removal of brown spots, varicose veins and fine lines.

Will my Insurance pay for it?
Yes, it is insurance billable; however, due to the state of insurance claim reimbursement today, some practitioners do not accept insurance and bill direct per treatment. Since these treatments consistently result in relief our patients find it to be a worthwhile investment.

When can I expect results from treatments?
Typical Patient responses vary from individual to individual and range from immediate and complete recovery in one treatment to an initial increased discomfort then slow and steady recovery. In some cases it may take 3-10 treatments before some breakthrough occurs.
The effectiveness and sustainability of the treatments as always not only depends on your practitioner it also largely depends on the patient and their commitment to supporting the healing process, which includes proper hydration, nutrition and physical exercise.

Are there side effects?
The most common side effect is the reduction and/or elimination of pain. Sometimes as a result of increased detoxification when using the unit, patients may experience atypical symptoms including but not limited to diarrhea, night sweats, headaches, nausea, flu-like symptoms etc. Make sure you consult your practitioner when you experience any atypical symptoms. According to many practitioners some atypical signs may actually be a good indicator that something is shifting within the body and the toxins are ready to ‘move out.’

What can I expect when I go for a treatment?
Normally a professional will administer the treatment by attaching either self adhesive or carbon rubber electrodes in a pattern that will be most effective or in a combination of both applied to specific areas of your body. An electrolyte gel may be applied depending on the attachments the practitioner will choose to administer in order to facilitate better conductivity of the equipment’s output.
You should always be comfortable during the treatment-if you begin to feel any discomfort, such as a stinging, let the practitioner know so that they can adjust the equipment accordingly.
Treatments vary in time but are generally around one hour. You may be asked to perform some specific tasks during the treatment to determine the next course of action (i.e., moving in the area of pain-an arm, a leg, bending at the waist etc.) Prior to and at the end of each session you will be asked a number of questions about any changes you may have noticed.
Prior to beginning treatment the practitioner will discuss your case with you and ask questions about your situation to determine an appropriate starting point for treatment. Dress comfortably in sweats or loose clothing. You may need to remove some clothing to facilitate access to the areas of pain. The practitioner will provide a means to keep you draped for comfort. Is this like a TENS device?
The Wellness Pro has been Cleared as a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) device in that it uses electrical stimulation to relieve pain, however, unlike other TENS devices on the market that have a very limited frequency range the Wellness Pro has the largest frequency range and unique delivery system that blocks pain signals and helps increase blood flow, and therefore enhances various effects of the body that stimulate the cell to a state of restoration and wellness.

If it’s so effective, why haven’t I ever heard of it before?
The technology has been available to the elite and pro athletes for over 60 years. NBA, NFL and Pro PGA athletes currently use the Wellness Pro Technology.
